Math 1 (approx. grade level K/1st/2nd) – Fundamentals of math concepts. Students will work on skip counting, place value, addition and subtraction facts, basic geometry, currency, graphing and problem solving using an incremental approach to learning. Students will use manipulatives, games, worksheet, etc. to reinforce concepts learned.
Math 2 (approx. grade level 3rd/4th) – A course designed to build upon the fundamentals of math. Students will work on all concepts taught in Math 1 in more depth as well as introduction to multiplication, division and fractions.
Math 3 (approx. grade level 5th/6th) – Students extend their understanding of critical skills and build fluency in math facts. Students will cover concepts such as: ratios, statistics and probability, prime and composite numbers, powers and roots.
Math 4 – (approx. grade 7th/8th) – Building upon the principles in Math 3. Students will be introduced to functions and coordinate graphing, integers, exponential expressions and prime factorization.
Language Arts 1 (approx. grade level K/1st/2nd) – Students apply concepts of print, phonological and phonemic awareness, oral language skills and phonics. Students become fluent readers and apply comprehension and vocabulary strategies to a wide variety of literary and informational text. Students progress in writing from single-idea and patterned sentences to more detailed and sequential text.
Language Arts 2 (approx. grade level 3rd/4th) – A course designed to further reading comprehension and vocabulary. Students read skillfully with meaning and purpose and have the ability to discuss, reflect, and respond, using evidence from text. Students write for a range of purpose, including describing a story and explaining.
Language Arts 3 (approx. grade level 5th/6th) – Students broaden and deepen their understanding of informational and literary text. Students develop a strong personal voice in their writing.
Language Arts 4 (approx. grade 7th/8th) – Advanced levels of speaking, reading, writing and presenting. An emphasis on vocabulary and composition skills will be an on-going part of this course.
Science 1 (approx. age 5yrs-6yrs) – Students are introduced to life science, physical science, earth science and animal studies with a broad scope to the subjects.
Science 2/3 (approx. age 7yrs-10yrs) – Building upon the knowledge from Science 1, students begin to deepen their understanding of the sciences. They begin to ask questions, research and develop their understanding with experiments.
Science 4 (approx. age 10+) – Students in this course take learning into their own hands. Course is project based in which students will choose topics. Students present these projects to peers. An emphasis is placed on research and experiments.
Science Lab (all ages) – Students registered for a science course can come to lab time where they will be able to engage in experiments.
Beginning Art – An Art experience for beginning creative minds. Students will explore many different mediums: acrylic paint, pastels, charcoals, collage and some clay and other sculpture materials.
Intermediate Art – A course designed for the intermediate students who are eager to grow in their drawing skills. Students will have the opportunity to work at their own pace on their varying projects.
Fun with Legos – Students will learn about all aspects of LEGO building. They will work cooperatively to build and present creations. There will be both instructional content and free play as part of this course.
LEGO Education SPIKE – Students work hands on with the LEGO Education SPIKE set following instruction and weekly lesson plans. Students take to learning in a hands-on STEM approach. Students will also have an opportunity to join First LEGO League.
Intro to Engineering – A course designed to introduce students to the world of engineering. Students will design and build structures, products or machines. This course provides students with the opportunity to solve specific problems and understand the “how and why” things work.
Learning Lab is designed to engage students in their learning. Students are able to receive additional help on lessons or work on projects with teacher guidance. It is also a time to students to socialize and work in peer groups.
